Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Marshall Health is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team.

Job Summary:

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of disease by performing laboratory tests in hematology, urinalysis, and chemistry. You will work under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager and in collaboration with the Medical Director and Pathologist to ensure accurate and timely results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform laboratory tests and analyze samples to obtain data for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Monitor and maintain daily quality control and instrument maintenance to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Observe and adhere to laboratory safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Process and analyze samples in a timely and orderly fashion, meeting usual and customary levels of productivity.
  • Take appropriate action for Quality Control in all technical areas and follow established Infection Control Procedures.
  • Accurately process send-out samples according to reference lab requirements.
  • Follow established department criteria for processing and reporting of critical test values.
  • Keep work area clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Perform or assist with Phlebotomy activities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Actively track and resolve issues regarding missing samples or requisitions in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Currently licensed as a Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the WVDHHR if working in WV. If not currently licensed in WV, must obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Has successfully completed certification exam from the ASCP (preferred) or equivalent licensing board.
  • Completion of certification is required within one year of employment, if not previously obtained.
  • One year laboratory experience preferred.
