A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EXPLOSIVES TECHNICIAN
As an Explosives Technician, you will arrive at job sites prepared to engage in your duties. Your day begins with conducting field assessments to ascertain the type and quantity of explosives required for each task. You will carefully interpret drill patterns, instructions, and diagrams, ensuring effective communication with all team members on-site to facilitate smooth operations.
Your responsibilities include arranging and detonating explosive charges, as well as performing pre- and post-shot safety evaluations for every blasting event. Your organizational skills will be crucial in completing all necessary documentation.
For each assignment, you will comply with client policies and ensure that your team adheres to the same standards. You will work collaboratively with the appropriate personnel to address client concerns, manage blast area incidents, and handle public inquiries. While you thrive on the excitement of being an Explosives Technician, your primary focus remains on maintaining safety. Your extensive knowledge of explosives enables you to operate in a manner that minimizes the risk of accidents or injuries.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Possession of a current blaster's license
- Experience with various initiation systems, laser profiling, and seismographs
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs
- Commitment to a drug-free workplace
- Compliance with all state and federal explosive regulations and qualification as an ATF explosives possessor
- Willingness to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions
