About the National Security Department:
Located in Annapolis Junction, MD, the National Security Department (N912) is tasked with delivering a comprehensive range of projects for the MITRE Intelligence Center. We specialize in cybersecurity and SIGINT expertise, ensuring the resilience and security of DoD, IC infrastructure, and National Security Systems (NSS) against adversarial threats. Key Responsibilities:
The Lead Computer Scientist will engage in software research and development, contributing to multiple concurrent MITRE initiatives that provide computer and cybersecurity expertise to our sponsors. Depending on project scope, you may serve as an autonomous subject matter expert or as a key leader within a project team.
Collaboration is essential; you will work closely with sponsors and MITRE colleagues from diverse backgrounds, including engineers, mission operations experts, data scientists, and program managers. Your role will involve translating operational needs into robust technical requirements, developing and reviewing proposed plans, and contributing to innovative technical solutions that advance the sponsor's mission.
Basic Qualifications:
- Current TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance.
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering.
- Proficiency in NodeJS, Python, and/or Java.
- Demonstrated success in applying software development skills within complex computer network systems.
- Experience with configuration management tools and containerized development approaches.
- Experience in developing interface modules and utilizing machine learning support modules.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph clearance.
- Proficiency in implementing solutions using Docker, IDE, Bitbucket, and similar software development collaboration tools.
- Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture.
- Familiarity with software development for device command and control applications.
- Broad knowledge of DoD and intelligence community organizations and missions.
- Recent experience collaborating closely with DoD and IC customers.
- Effective communication skills, capable of interacting with technical staff and senior leaders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex assignments.
- Experience in translating operational needs into technical and programmatic requirements.
- Strong critical and strategic thinking abilities, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive attitude with a focus on creating win-win solutions.
