BIM Specialist Job Description

SOPREMA USA is seeking a highly skilled BIM Specialist to join our team. As a BIM Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining complex BIM models using industry-standard software.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and Maintain BIM Models: Utilize industry-standard software to create and update BIM models, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  2. Design and Implement Custom Software Solutions: Develop and implement custom software solutions to integrate AR and MR technologies into BIM workflows.
  3. Create Immersive AR/MR Experiences: Design and create immersive AR/MR experiences for design visualization and construction planning.
  4. Develop APIs and Plugins: Develop APIs and plugins to enhance BIM software capabilities and interoperability.
  5. Implement Data Pipelines: Implement data pipelines for seamless integration between BIM models and AR/MR applications.
  6. Collaborate with Project Teams: Collaborate with project teams to create and deploy AR/MR solutions for on-site construction guidance.
  7. Optimize Performance: Optimize the performance of BIM and AR/MR applications.
  8. Train Team Members: Train team members on BIM best practices, custom software tools, and AR/MR integration.
  9. Stay Current with Emerging Technologies: Stay current with emerging technologies in BIM, AR, MR, and software development.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  2. Software Development Experience: 5+ years of experience in software development.
  3. BIM Modeling Experience: 3+ years of experience in BIM modeling and coordination.
  4. Proficiency in BIM Software: Proficiency in BIM software (e.g., Revit, ArchiCAD, Navisworks).
  5. Programming Skills: Strong programming skills in languages such as C#, C++, Python, or Java.
  6. AR/MR Development Experience: Experience with AR/MR development platforms (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, ARKit, ARCore).
  7. 3D Modeling and Rendering Experience: Familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering software.
  8. Software Design Patterns: Knowledge of software design patterns and best practices.
  9. Version Control Experience: Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  10. AEC Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of AEC industry processes and standards.
  11. Communication and Teamwork Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Master's Degree: Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  2. Certifications: Certifications in BIM and/or AR/MR technologies.
  3. Cloud-Based BIM Collaboration Experience: Experience with cloud-based BIM collaboration platforms.
  4. Machine Learning and Computer Vision Experience: Knowledge of machine learning and computer vision techniques.
  5. Agile Development Experience: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  6. Open-Source Contributions: Contributions to open-source projects related to BIM or AR/MR.
  7. Database Design and Management Experience: Experience with database design and management (SQL and NoSQL).
Working Conditions:
  1. Prolonged Sitting: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

This position reports to the New Tech Lab Director.
