Job Description

Job Summary:

The Aquatics Director is responsible for overseeing the operations and safety of all aquatic programs at the YMCA of Southwest Florida. This includes supervising lifeguards, swim instructors, and other staff members to ensure high-quality programming and a safe environment for participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and develop lifeguards and swim instructors
  • Conduct performance reviews and evaluations
  • Develop and implement in-service training for lifeguards
  • Establish new program activities and expand existing ones
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and safety
  • Assist with marketing and distribution of program information
  • Coordinate pool operations and maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with state and local regulations

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience as a lifeguard required
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Working understanding of public pool operation and compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Certifications in lifeguarding, swim instruction, and pool operation
