We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for operating Computed Tomography (CT) and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment, preparing patients for examination, and ensuring that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for examination by explaining procedures in easy-to-understand terms and positioning them within the gantry.
- Operate CT/MRI equipment to administer procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, and neurological exams, as well as biopsies and radiation therapy treatment planning.
- Key in patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from a requisition completed by the Radiologist.
- Calculate the number of scans to be obtained based on patient size and operate CT/MRI equipment to ensure that required images were obtained as ordered by the Radiologist.
- Locate Radiologists to review and ascertain whether additional scanning is required.
- Transmit cases to on-call Radiologists through the use of Tele-Radiology systems.
- Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order, verifying that there are no contraindications to administration and calculating contrast dose based on patient weight.
- Perform venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination and explain, in layman's terms, the administration of IV contrast.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.) required for positions filled after September 5, 2010.
- Certification in IV Contrast Administration required within six (6) months of entry date into position.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, required.
- Previous experience as a Radiologic Technologist, required. Previous CT or MRI experience, preferred.
The salary range for this position is $50.68-$59.98/hour. Northwell Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan and paid time off.
