Role Summary:

The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in the acquisition of both direct and indirect materials, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with the Master Product Schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing Activities:
    • Create and manage purchase orders (PO) within the procurement system, adhering to approved supplier lists and ensuring prompt approval processes.
    • Oversee lead times and manage expedited shipping costs with suppliers.
    • Maintain a comprehensive tracker for order status, PO updates, lead times, and receipt confirmations for all materials.
    • Identify and evaluate new suppliers and vendors based on operational needs and input from various teams.
    • Ensure all necessary documentation for materials is received, including specifications, manuals, and safety data sheets.
    • Monitor and adjust open purchase orders and supplier commitments, resolving discrepancies to facilitate timely payments.
    • Solicit quotes for materials as needed by the project teams.
    • Collaborate with Global Procurement for significant purchases, ensuring compliance with contracts and company policies.
    • Assist in capital expenditure processes.

Planning Responsibilities:
• Conduct raw material planning for projects using the procurement system.
• Maintain inventory levels in line with company policies and objectives, adjusting safety stock levels as necessary.
• Manage item masters, bills of materials (BOMs), routing, and other supply chain data.
• Support product launch activities as required.
• Analyze excess and obsolete inventory, providing data to seek reimbursement for customer-owned materials.
• Monitor raw material inventory levels to meet targets, adjusting purchasing strategies accordingly.
• Process materials for disposal when they become obsolete or expire.
• Prepare materials for shipment, including samples and relevant documentation.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, supply chain management, or business, or equivalent experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in a similar role, including production planning and inventory management.
• At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector or a strong understanding of industry regulations and requirements.
• Experience with MRP systems is essential.
• APICS certification is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret MRP reports and inventory data.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization.
• High attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
