The Electric Motor Performance Engineer plays a crucial role in assessing motor performance and efficiency through advanced motor and vehicle chassis dynamometers, integrated with cutting-edge power analysis tools.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate motor analysis and inverter calibration by designing and executing motor and vehicle dynamometer assessments.
- Confirm test plans, conduct tests, and ensure the accuracy and repeatability of test data.
- Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot test cell instrumentation.
- Collaborate with test requestors and technicians, prioritizing and scheduling testing activities.
- Provide mentorship to technical associates, ensuring their dynamometer work and data align with Tula's quality standards.
- Enhance Tula's internal testing and calibration capabilities.
- Engage external vendors and contractors as necessary.
- Contribute innovative ideas and assist in the development of project plans.
- Establish expertise in dynamometer testing.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in experimental design methodologies.
- Experience with at least three of the following tools: Matlab/Simulink, Labview/Veristand, CAS, INCA, Canalyzer, Canape, dSPACE/Control Desk, and power analysis equipment, particularly HBK Genesis/Perception.
- Strong understanding of electric motors and relevant testing methodologies for road vehicles.
- Familiarity with motor and vehicle testing equipment, including dynamometers and data acquisition systems.
- Ability to meticulously validate test plans, execute dynamometer operations, and ensure high-quality data generation.
- Knowledge of calibration structures for motor control modules in modern electric machines.
- Capability to set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot sophisticated measurement instruments.
- Demonstrated system-level thinking and management skills.
- Critical thinking abilities and the capacity to manage multiple systems essential for valid testing.
- Proficient in root cause analysis and resolution techniques.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction.
- Strong team orientation and project management capabilities.
- Participate in the construction and refurbishment of dynamometer cells.
- Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
- Experience in the analysis and development of automotive motors and components.
- Familiarity with analytical tools such as motor FEA and vehicle simulation.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of modern motor control.
