Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse

We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team in Seattle, Washington.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide critical care to infants, children, and adolescents with life-threatening conditions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care and support to both patients and their families during challenging times.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced nursing care to pediatric patients with severe and complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, and post-operative care following major surgeries.
- Perform continuous assessments of patients, closely monitoring vital signs, neurological status, and other critical indicators to detect and respond to changes in condition promptly.
- Administer medications, blood products, and advanced therapies as prescribed, following strict protocols and ensuring patient safety.
- Offer emotional support and education to families, helping them understand their child's condition, treatment plan, and care needs, and involving them in the decision-making process.
- Work closely with pediatric intensivists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Act quickly and efficiently in emergencies, using advanced life support skills to stabilize critically ill patients.
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment such as ventilators, ECMO machines, and infusion pumps, ensuring their proper use and maintenance.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control and safety protocols to maintain the highest standard of care in the PICU.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pediatric or intensive care setting is required; PICU experience is preferred.
- BLS and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications are required; CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certifications are preferred.
- Strong clinical and critical thinking skills, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and a deep commitment to providing compassionate care to pediatric patients and their families.
