Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary Objective: This role is dedicated to delivering product and process metallurgy expertise to all rolled products and extrusion facilities globally, with a primary emphasis on rolled products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to spearhead initiatives that support product innovation and process enhancements across diverse markets, including Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial, Packaging, and Space.
  • Develop and refine product and processing methodologies, implementing stability tools for both new and existing products to enhance product characteristics, process efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Essential Duties:

  • Facilitate the introduction of new products within our manufacturing sites to ensure they meet quality standards and are ready for production.
  • Lead and assist in resolving plant issues to enhance product quality, improve process efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
  • Develop and evaluate product and process standards, including establishing reaction plan triggers for processing variables.
  • Build technical networks to support problem-solving, training, and knowledge retention within the company.
  • Implement process management stability tools to bolster product and process reliability, minimize quality deviations, enhance recovery rates, and maximize equipment uptime.

Additional Information:

  • This position involves travel, ranging from 25-50% of the time, with some international travel expected.
  • While this role has global responsibilities, the primary location will be within our designated operational areas.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Materials Science from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product and process metallurgy improvement.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and/or AS9100 certified environment.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required, and verification of employment eligibility will be conducted at the time of hire.
  • This position may require access to controlled technology as defined by relevant regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Materials Science from an accredited institution.
  • 10 years of experience as a product or process metallurgist focused on enhancing product quality, process efficiency, and reducing manufacturing costs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across various departments within Arconic.
  • Specialized knowledge of aluminum products and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with aluminum physical metallurgy for both heat-treated and non-heat-treated products.
  • Understanding of casting, rolling, thermal processing, and finishing operations.
  • Experience in implementing stability tools to secure product and process enhancements.
  • Experience in direct engagement with customer organizations during product development and quality resolution phases.
