Position: Special Education Tutor for the academic year, offering up to 29 hours at a rate of $43 per hour. Services will be delivered in various community locations.
Employment Status: 14-29 hours per week, flexible for evening or daytime schedules, with a minimum availability of two days each week.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
- Possession of a Missouri certification in special education.
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in special education and/or general education.
- Experience in delivering educational support to children and/or adolescents with learning disabilities or educational challenges.
- Proficient in using computer and web-based applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and Spedtrack.
Reporting To: Special Education Supervisor
Compensation: $43 per hour
The Special Education Tutor assesses students' academic challenges related to specific subjects and provides tailored instruction to address these areas. This role involves delivering direct or consultative IEP minutes to students in alignment with their IEP objectives and current performance levels. The tutor may also be responsible for drafting and updating Individual Educational Plans and completing quarterly progress assessments. Candidates should be comfortable taking initiative in new environments and working autonomously, with the ability to respond promptly to work-related communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a thorough assessment of each child's strengths and weaknesses concerning academic subjects and educational diagnoses.
- For tutoring clients, evaluate both the child and family expectations, assisting in setting realistic treatment goals.
- Provide suitable educational interventions based on the child's academic evaluations and monitor progress towards established goals.
- Maintain an online account to track progress following each tutoring session.
- Coordinate with other professionals involved with the student to ensure cohesive treatment strategies.
- For long-term substitute teaching roles, deliver direct and consultative services to students according to their IEPs.
- Update students' IEPs as required, including current performance levels, measurable goals, and progress tracking.
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff gatherings, and training sessions as requested by the partnering educational institution.
- Function as an employee of the assigned educational facilities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and other stakeholders involved with the students as necessary.
- Submit billing promptly.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
