Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled BBQ Chef to join our team at Bashas'

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, grilling, and merchandising of bistro foods for sale in the outdoor grill area.
  • Work with the deli/bistro manager and/or executive chef to achieve sales, presentation, and customer service goals.
  • Plan and execute daily production and merchandising of barbecue and grilled items.
  • Answer customer inquiries and take special orders.
  • Maintain a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members.
  • Engage with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, and providing selling suggestions.
  • Operate a cash register and/or register till to record customers' purchases and transactions.
  • Facilitate catered events from beginning to conclusion.
  • Work with the executive chef or bistro manager on menu planning.
  • Plan, develop, and present various menus, using expertise and creativity.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and salesmanship skills with customers.
  • Maintain open communication with all members of the deli/bistro department, catering department, and executive chef.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, county, and local health department and weights and measures policies, laws, and requirements.
  • Control food cost control shrink by monitoring production and implementing reworks.

Requirements:

  • Ability to remain helpful, tactful, and courteous at all times.
  • Excellent barbecue and grill product knowledge.
  • Strong salesperson skills, ready to provide customers with a meal solution.
  • Keen sense of taste and smell.
  • Ability to follow recipes as dictated by pre-set deli/bistro programs.
  • Passion for outstanding food preparation.
  • Ability to experiment and adapt to new cooking methods and product trends.
  • Ability to work in close proximity to hot burners and ovens.
  • Ability to stand and work for long periods of time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently, sometimes with little direction.
  • Ability to learn and use register, scales, scanners, and debit/credit terminals.
  • Ability to plan, multi-task, and organize.
  • Ability to react quickly and problem-solve effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to be dexterous enough with hands and fingers to safely prepare menu items.
  • Ability to properly use all deli/bistro department equipment.
