Role Responsibilities and QualificationsThe Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse plays a vital role in patient care by collaborating with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment strategies. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining accountability for assigned patients.
- Facilitating the smooth flow of patient care, including preparation for examinations and managing admissions and discharges.
- Documenting and reviewing patient records, including test results.
- Administering medications as per physician directives.
- Educating patients and families about medications and treatment protocols.
- Handling incoming calls and performing phone triage as necessary.
Qualifications Required:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate degree or higher.
- Current RN licensure in the practicing state or an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
- Certification in ACLS & PALS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
