Job Overview

The RUSH University Medical Center is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join its team. As a key member of the healthcare staff, you will be responsible for providing top-notch patient care and support services.

About the Role

This full-time position requires the ideal candidate to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain organized patient flow.
  • Perform patient intake: vital signs, height and weight, reason for visit, interim history, allergies, medication lists, and other interventions as required.
  • Prepare patients for exams based on reason for visit.
  • Assist providers with procedures and prepare patients and materials accordingly.
  • Review appointment schedules and ensure all patient charts are available for visits.
  • Review patient charts and ensure all ancillary reports and required paperwork are available to providers at the time of visit.
  • Perform basic lab and testing procedures according to standards.
  • Administer immunizations as ordered by physicians.
  • Document administration of over-the-counter medications and/or other medications in Epic per policy or protocol.
  • Clean, prepare, and stock exam rooms, treatment rooms, and workstations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification by AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA required within six months of hire.
  • Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program required (unless hired prior to February 1, 2022).
  • Current CPR certification required upon start date.
  • Computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Benefits

The RUSH University Medical Center offers a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, and paid time off.
