Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide support to our Chemists and Engineers in the research and development process, leading to the creation of automotive coating products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
  • Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.
  • Handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis.
  • Prepare and evaluate coating formulations, including primer, topcoat, and clear coat, in a lab environment.
  • Accurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations, polymers, dispersions, and intermediates.
  • Perform specific analytical testing, including viscosity, weight solids, pH, film build, etc.
  • Operate measurement instrumentation, such as spectrophotometers, Wave-Scan, Gloss meters, etc.
  • Use mathematical skills, such as statistics and algebra.
  • Document, interpret, and communicate experimental test results using computer programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Organize and complete multiple tasks under strict time constraints.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with fellow client personnel and customers.
  • Train other R&D technicians on specific tasks once qualified.
  • Travel as needed to internal/external customer locations for meetings, training, and product support activities.
Requirements
  • Must perform all work in a safe manner and in accordance with all lab and plant safety regulations.
  • Must be able to work well with supervisor and a variety of R&D, manufacturing, and marketing personnel in a team environment.
