Student Engagement and Retention Specialist

**Job Summary**
The Second Year Experience Coordinator is a key position at Calumet College, responsible for implementing and coordinating programs and initiatives to support and enhance student engagement and learning. This role will assist first/second-year students in establishing their professional and academic goals by identifying student needs and offering necessary student success services that lead to persistence and on-time graduation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement curricular and cocurricular initiatives for second-year students in collaboration with faculty, Career Services, and other departments.
- Collaborate with academic departments to identify at-risk students, develop interventions, and provide support to meet college expectations.
- Measure and monitor retention Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and identify necessary changes to address retention.
- Focus on students throughout their Sophomore/2nd year of college, providing data-driven support and resources.
- Evaluate progress of new student programs to ensure continuous improvement and growth.
- Provide data and reports necessary for grant reports each semester.
- Support students in special populations, using data and predictive analytics to design timely and strategic interventions.
- Develop marketing strategies in collaboration with Marketing, for services and activities, including flyers and other publications, and internet marketing.
- Manage the implementation and operationalize the A+ Initiative.
- Develop and maintain subject matter knowledge related to degree programs and common student concerns and issues.
- Develop a tracking system to document student participation in club and campus-wide events.
- Assist the Student Engagement and Retention department with coordinating campus-wide events.
- Oversee program budget.
**Grant Requirements**
- Work collaboratively with the VP for Student Engagement and Retention, Director of Career Services and Student Success, and the HSI team.
- Prepare regular reports to meet grant requirements.
- Utilize budget resources effectively to meet grant goals.
- Demonstrate commitment to meeting students' needs.
**Requirements**
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- At least one year of experience working with student populations, preferably in a high school or community college setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team, as well as being self-motivated.
- Skilled in using Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bilingual a plus.
