Position Summary:
The Biological Scientist specializing in Molecular and Cellular Biology will contribute to investigations focused on the cellular processes associated with substance dependency and HIV research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes technical expertise to aid in the exploration of fundamental biological principles related to flora and fauna.
- Conducts essential laboratory experiments and methodologies, including:
- Gathering and evaluating biological data concerning the interactions among organisms and their habitats.
- Monitoring experimental procedures, documenting production and test results for analysis by research teams.
- Interpreting experimental findings and drafting reports summarizing outcomes.
- Coordinating the efforts of biological technicians and other scientists.
- Employing techniques for measuring proteins and nucleic acids in cellular and tissue samples, including brain sectioning and tissue processing using immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization methods.
- Manages, organizes, and maintains laboratory samples, materials, and instruments, including:
- Operating and calibrating analytical equipment such as spectrophotometers and calorimeters.
- Ensuring the upkeep of laboratory instruments.
- Documenting laboratory findings accurately and converting records to digital formats as necessary.
- Collecting and analyzing data; organizing spreadsheets; preparing visual representations and reports for tracking research activities.
- Acquires new laboratory techniques and protocols, including:
- Utilizing computer systems for data storage, processing, and analysis.
- Interpreting research data effectively.
- Maintains and inspects laboratory equipment.
- Conducts validation processes.
- Participates in team meetings to provide updates on research progress.
- Performs additional related tasks as required.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Molecular Biology or Neuroscience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge in biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular biology, and PCR technologies.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Capability to stand or walk frequently, possess correctable near vision, depth perception, and distinguish basic colors.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

- Experience with the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
