Position Overview
The Client Services Representative plays a crucial role in overseeing the shelter environment, ensuring safety, order, respect, and tranquility for all clients and guests.
Key Responsibilities
The Client Services Representative is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service at The Salvation Army Bell Shelter, a facility offering residential housing and support services for single adults facing homelessness. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that all clients are aware of and adhere to facility regulations, providing explanations as needed.
- Maintaining accurate written records as required.
- Monitoring and assisting in the upkeep of the facility, including restrooms.
- Handling incoming phone calls and directing them to the appropriate personnel promptly and professionally.
- Welcoming and guiding visitors to the right individuals.
- Providing essential information about the facility and its programs when necessary.
- Preparing detailed reports for all incidents using logs and incident report forms.
- Maintaining a secure environment both inside and outside the facility.
- Conducting thorough rounds throughout each assigned shift.
- Monitoring client medication and observing activities around the facility through reception office video monitors.
- Investigating and reporting any activities or incidents as necessary.
- Supervising client social activities.
- Performing all duties with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.
Work Environment
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files and file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Proficiency in operating a computer, fax machine, and telephone is required. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma with at least one year of relevant work experience.
- If in recovery, a minimum sobriety period of two (2) years is required.
- Experience in mental health and/or addiction fields is preferred.
- Understanding and support of The Salvation Army's mission is essential.
- Basic literacy skills are necessary.
- CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 14 days of employment.
- Must be TB-cleared prior to starting the position.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment while working independently.
- Effective time management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Commitment to workplace ethics and confidentiality protocols.
- Ability to greet visitors, answer phone calls, and interact with clients and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- Proficiency in using office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
- Flexibility to work any assigned shift or schedule.
