Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at R.H. Sheppard Co. Inc. in Hanover, PA. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for analyzing and diagnosing equipment issues, executing light to moderate maintenance and repairs, and ensuring the efficient operation of our production equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to established safety procedures and 5S standards to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Diagnose performance issues on manufacturing production equipment and related accessories to determine appropriate parts and repairs needed.
  • Communicate diagnosis to Supervisor to obtain necessary parts or supplies to complete repair.
  • Perform routine maintenance on motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, hoists, cranes, and sanitary facilities, and inspect for excessive wear and/or damage.
  • Utilize power and hand tools to remove, replace, and adjust fasteners and locking mechanisms, hoist and replace parts as needed.
  • Disassemble machines and make repairs to hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, pipe fitting, sheet metal, basic electrical mechanical, and masonry.
  • Maintain accurate work order and log of maintenance and repairs performed to specific equipment.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Trade school education preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical operation and repair.
  • Knowledge of various types of plumbing repair methods.
  • Basic MS Office skills.
  • Two years of mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in shipping/receiving in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles.
