Job Title: Social Worker/Volunteer Coordinator

Compassus is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker/Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing preventive, educational, and evaluative services to patients and their families, while also overseeing the volunteer program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the plan of care, working closely with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Promote the use of volunteers as an intervention to support patient care needs.
  • Assist in identifying the need for intervention of other team members and effectively communicate patient and family needs.
  • Provide education about volunteer services and the role of the volunteer to team members.
  • Prepare reports, in-services, and other documents to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of the volunteer program.
  • Utilize various means to communicate with and retain active volunteers, including newsletters, email campaigns, gatherings, and meetings.
  • Deliver in-services to active volunteers and manage volunteer services through accountable awareness of volunteer utilization, documentation, and plan of care involvement.
  • Assign patient care and administrative volunteers, providing oversight for activity and documentation requirements.
  • Interview, hire, and train volunteers, as well as plan, assign, and direct work, appraise performance, reward, and discipline volunteers.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field, with one year of social work experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Master's degree in Social Work with one year of experience in a healthcare setting highly preferred.
  • Experience in Social Services, Human Services, Resource Management, or related field preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
  • Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and monitor multiple activities simultaneously.
