Job Summary

The Vein and Vascular Registered Nurse is a multifunctional role responsible for managing the care of adult patients scheduled for vein and vascular surgical procedures in an outpatient surgical setting.

The registered nurse assists surgical providers during procedures and cares for patients before, during, and post-procedures. They also provide support to the outpatient clinic and deliver patient care in a manner appropriate to the demographics and/or specific needs of the patient population served.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee pre-surgical procedures for patients.
  • Meet with patients' relatives or care supporters regarding procedures to be performed.
  • Explain procedures to patients before starting them.
  • Inform patients about estimated recovery time.
  • Sterilize surgical tools before and after procedures.
  • Set up tools required for surgical procedures.
  • Make necessary preparations in the procedure room.
  • Assist other surgical team members in putting on gear.
  • Prepare and clean the site where incision is to be made.
  • Work directly with surgeons within the sterile field.
  • Convey patients to the recovery room.
  • Monitor patients in the recovery area.
  • Conduct individualized patient assessments.
  • Develop plans of care.
  • Perform treatments as ordered by physicians.
  • Provide individualized patient education.
  • Document patient assessment findings.
  • Initiate emergency resuscitative measures.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Provide care in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Maintain current competency in adult medical surgical nursing.
  • Act as a resource to others.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current licensure in good standing in the state of practice.
  • BSN strongly preferred.
  • Specialty certification strongly preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience related to specialty area.
  • Surgical and/or critical care experience strongly favored.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current registration in the State of NH as a Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
