Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Drivergent Transportation. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our fleet of school buses.

• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and State and Federal regulations.
• Perform road tests on vehicles and inspect and repair electrical systems, engines, transmissions, and other components.
• Inspect and repair brake systems, air and hydraulic systems, and drive train components.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire repairs.
• Prepare vehicle maintenance reports and submit them to management.

• Meet all general qualifications for employment.
• Meet state requirements for appropriate mechanic licensing.
• Pass drug and alcohol screening as established by company.
• Meet company standards for criminal history check.
• Vehicle maintenance experience required; truck, tractor, and/or diesel maintenance preferred.

• Technical School degree in automotive preferred, with 1 to 3 years of vehicle maintenance experience.
• Must possess or be able to successfully obtain current Mechanic Licenses through either ASE or the State of Michigan in the following areas: Heavy Duty Brakes, Heavy Duty Suspension & Steering, Heavy Duty Diesel Engines, Heavy Duty Drive Train, and Electrical.
