Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker position at Darling Ingredients Inc. is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation of new equipment and assist personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
  • Follow a preventative maintenance schedule and perform machine repair and installation, including replacing motors, rebuilding gear boxes, and welding.
  • Conduct daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed and diagnose and replace equipment parts with little or no direction.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times and be responsible for using assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment.
  • Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on the Safety Committee.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience with rendering or similar industrial-type equipment.
  • Experience in welding and piping, as well as electrical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational school training preferred.
  • Experience in operating a forklift preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operations.
  • Welding proficiency in MIG and Stick as well as vertical and overhead preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair control circuits and VFD installation preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to push, pull, move or lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment:

Job functions will be carried out in a rendering facility which requires tolerance for wet and or slippery floors and high heat or cold temperatures.
