We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nurse Resident in our Pulmonary ICU department at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
Job SummaryThe Nurse Resident will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide exceptional patient care, including basic patient care tasks, such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, giving backrubs, and emptying bedpans or urinals. The Nurse Resident will also assist with patient safety issues, such as the presence of identification arm bands, adherence to patient fall protocol, and use of restraints, positioning of patients, promotion of an environment for rest and sleep, and reporting of incidents/injury occurrences.
Responsibilities- Perform basic patient care tasks, including personal patient care tasks, such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, giving backrubs, and emptying bedpans or urinals.
- Assist with patient safety issues, such as the presence of identification arm bands, adherence to patient fall protocol, and use of restraints, positioning of patients, promotion of an environment for rest and sleep, and reporting of incidents/injury occurrences.
- Perform treatments, which may include urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, applying compresses, and assisting with patient ambulation.
- Assist in patient admission by preparing the room, admitting the patient, and preparing for patient discharge.
- Conduct and document basic diagnostic testing, which includes but is not limited to, obtaining vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, 12-Lead EKG, telemetry monitor, and pulse oximetry and Doppler.
- Perform selected sterile procedures, which include specimen collection, wound care, tracheostomy care and suction, urinary catheterization, and tube feedings.
- May retrieve and transport medications.
- Must be a new graduate or eligible to graduate from an accredited Nursing Program with eligibility to take the NCLEX exam.
- The maximum time allowed to stay in this role is 6 months or until passing the NCLEX exam on either the 1st or 2nd attempt.
