Director of Software Engineering

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead our Field Commercial team, which is responsible for enabling LinkedIn to process north of $15 billion in annual revenue. As a Director, you will lead our configure-price-quote engine, which sits at the intersection of large-scale infrastructure, platform, and end-user experiences.
Responsibilities- Build and ship software, driving architectural decisions and implementation across teams.
- Drive the adoption of cutting-edge solutions and methods to enable innovative developer-focused tools and applications.
- Improve the level of craftsmanship at LinkedIn by developing best practices and defining best strategies.
- Lead cross-team/cross-functional discussions and drive alignment on technology strategy.
- Define the bar for quality and efficiency of software systems while balancing business impact, operational impact, and cost benefits of design and architectural choices.
- Act as a primary domain expert to influence technology choices.
- Lead by example to build a culture of craftsmanship and innovation.
- 10+ years of work experience in a technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in management positions.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technology-related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience managing multi-layered teams.
- Ability to lead by example and inspire the team to perform at a high level, and collaborate very well across different teams.
- Strong understanding of large-scale engineering systems.
- Engineering development experience, building products and backend systems, infrastructure services.
- Background in leveraging LLMs to build products.
- Highly motivated and able to work with ambiguous fast-changing problem landscapes, convert vague and ill-defined problems into well-defined problems, take initiative, and encourage consensus building across partners.

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $203,000 to $333,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
