We are seeking a skilled Server Administrator to join our IT team in Anchorage, AK.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and virtualization environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Network Administration: Manage network services including DNS, DHCP, and VPN. Ensure network security and optimize performance.
  • Security: Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and regular system updates. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Backup & Recovery: Develop and maintain backup strategies for server data. Ensure data recovery processes are effective and regularly tested.
  • Virtualization: Manage and maintain virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to ensure efficient resource utilization and high availability.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Implement and utilize monitoring tools to ensure system uptime and performance. Generate regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and resource usage.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff and end-users. Assist with troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Compliance: Ensure all server systems comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. Stay updated on the latest industry trends and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in server administration or a related role.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, CompTIA Server+, or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Windows and Linux server environments. Experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). Knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
