Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Underground Production Operator I to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan Inc. This role involves operating heavy equipment, managing explosives, and performing various tasks to ensure the safe and efficient production of molybdenum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) units and other heavy equipment in a production setting.
  • Assemble, transport, and place explosives for cave development or secondary oversize blasting.
  • Operate concrete batching equipment, transport concrete to destination, or place concrete using diesel equipment and manual tools.
  • Drill blast holes and/or install ground support using hydraulic drills.
  • Manage distribution of explosives from magazine, perform inventories, and verify requisition paperwork.
  • Install and/or repair steel piping and rubber hose to ensure properly functioning water spray in draw points.
  • Perform special projects and/or housekeeping work as requested.
Requirements
  • Minimum 6 months experience in related heavy industry with experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must qualify to hold an employee possessor clearance for handling explosives from the BATF by passing a BATF clearance screen post hire.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in heavy industry or operating heavy diesel equipment.
