This role involves the preparation and refinement of design calculations, technical documentation, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will collaborate with the project manager to conduct research, develop calculations, and deliver designs. Your engineering expertise will be essential in addressing design-related challenges, ensuring effective communication with clients, and adhering to project timelines.
As part of your responsibilities, you will:
- Generate conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to facilitate project completion using advanced technical tools and software.
- Mentor and guide junior engineering staff, providing constructive feedback and fostering their professional growth.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of diverse projects for our clients.
Your Responsibilities:
Oversee the planning and allocation of discipline-specific tasks, ensuring compliance with project schedules and budgets.
Assist in marketing efforts, including the creation of proposals.
Support the development of project scopes and effort estimations.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the project team's work within the technical discipline, guiding the team towards achieving overall project goals.
Coordinate technical project aspects with client representatives and partners at the staff level.
Collaborate closely with other disciplines on multi-faceted projects.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or
A Master's degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or
A PhD in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience.
Your Attributes:
Ability to understand the implications of decisions on technical design and project planning.
Effectively coordinate work planning and design across multiple technical disciplines.
Deliver high-quality outputs that are timely, within budget, and aligned with project scope.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of an Iowa PE License.
Established relationships with local municipalities and/or transportation departments.
Active involvement in local professional or civic organizations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
