Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in surgical operations by preparing and maintaining sterile environments, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready for use. This includes scrubbing in for various complex surgical procedures across multiple specialties such as General Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Orthopedics, and more.
  • Support surgical teams by providing necessary instruments, sutures, and equipment while adhering to AORN Standards of Care. Ensure accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain patient safety.
  • Set up and manage sterile tables, checking equipment functionality and maintaining the highest standards of aseptic technique throughout procedures.
  • Engage in staff education and development by assessing learning needs, implementing training programs, and guiding new staff and students.
  • Facilitate effective communication among healthcare team members, providing constructive feedback and maintaining confidentiality in all patient-related matters.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to goal setting and policy development to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:

  • Completion of an accredited surgical technologist training program and Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) is preferred. If not certified, certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
