Position Overview
The Medical Assistant represents AnovaWorks PLLC with professionalism, greeting patients and visitors in a courteous and efficient manner. This role is crucial for ensuring the seamless operation of clinical services provided to our clients. Under the supervision of medical or nursing staff, the Medical Assistant plays a vital role in delivering prompt and quality occupational health services at our clinics.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and visitors promptly and courteously, maintaining positive and professional relationships.
- Manage incoming calls by answering, transferring, and screening them appropriately.
- Assist in coordinating services, providers, and personnel to ensure smooth and timely patient care.
- Schedule patient appointments and necessary testing.
- Prepare patient charts and departmental forms according to clinic standards.
- Accurately collect and input client demographics, audiometric results, vital signs, patient history, and other relevant data into the electronic health record system.
- Obtain and record vital signs and patient history information accurately.
- Provide occupational health services, including pulmonary function testing, hearing assessments, CLIA-waived laboratory tests (such as Influenza A/B, strep, COVID-19 Rapid Antigen testing), and respirator fit testing.
- Administer medications and immunizations within the scope of practice as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Collect samples for blood analysis and urinalysis.
- Arrange lab tests, X-rays, and other procedures as ordered, notifying patients of appointments as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and stock of exam rooms, order medical supplies, and keep calibration records updated.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent qualifications necessary for MA-C certification (required).
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Prior experience in a medical environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in medical reception and hearing testing is advantageous but not essential.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Experience in phlebotomy and ECG is a plus but not required.
Licenses/Certifications (certifications can be obtained upon hire):
- Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) Certification.
- NIOSH Spirometry Certification.
- Current BLS certification.
Compensation: $20-24 per hour
