Key Responsibilities:
- Execute general accounting and administrative tasks to fulfill contractual obligations for operational and fundamental accounting.
- Ensure all financial transactions are processed promptly and accurately.
- Engage in monthly forecasting review meetings.
- Provide project teams with on-demand reports and analyses as required.
- Assist in gathering information for both internal and external financial reporting obligations.
- Compile client billing packages in accordance with contract stipulations and guarantee timely payments.
- Prepare bank deposits, conduct monthly reconciliations, and record cash receipts.
- Identify any discrepancies or risk exposures and aid in formulating strategies to mitigate them.
- Ensure all necessary documentation, including insurance, bonding, statutory declarations, and lien waivers, is properly organized.
- Interpret trade partner documentation related to accounting and adhere to established accounting protocols.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of an accounting designation is advantageous.
- Preferred: 2 years of accounting experience in construction or a similar sector.
- Understanding of full-cycle accounting, project forecasting, and budgeting.
- Familiarity with government regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Intermediate knowledge of lien rights.
- Basic exposure to bid and contract securities and insurance as they pertain to risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting.
- Basic understanding of subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance (SDI) and bonding requirements.
- Familiarity with owner contracts regarding payment terms, billing requirements, audit rights, and cost-of-work definitions.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with accounting software.
