The Nurse Residency Specialist is a key role within SSM Health, responsible for creating a supportive learning environment for new graduate nurses to develop their skills and progress in their careers. This position serves as a coach and mentor to assigned nurse residents and international nurses, implementing system-level guidelines and programming to promote participant retention and socialization into SSM Health.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement nurse residency programs at the system and ministry levels, ensuring alignment with SSM Health's goals and objectives.
- Coaching and Mentoring: Provide coaching and mentoring to nurse residents and international nurses, focusing on clinical reasoning, skill development, and cultural adaptation.
- Preceptor Support: Collaborate with preceptors to ensure smooth transitions from student to professional practice, providing guidance on assessment, validation, and remediation of competency.
- Program Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of nurse residency programs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance participant outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with department leaders, clinical educators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless program implementation and participant support.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Experience: Three years' registered nurse experience
- Skills: Strong coaching and mentoring skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
