Key Responsibilities:
- Provides comprehensive wound management to patients, including assessing causative factors, nutritional needs, and providing topical therapies.
- Edits patients and caregivers on proper wound care and management.
- Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare providers to plan and deliver patient care.
- Reviews and develops nursing policies and procedures specific to wound care and ostomy.
Requirements:
- Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Three (3) years clinical experience in Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) Certification.
- One (1) year of experience as a certified wound care nurse.
Work Environment:
- Working closely with others.
- Working protracted or irregular hours.
- Working around biohazards.
- Working around infectious diseases.
- Working with hands in water.
- Working with electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of relevant scientific principles, established standards of care and/or research findings.
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
- Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process.
- Knowledge of professional theory, practice and procedure.
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, physicians, and other employees.
