Overview:
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing efficient, cost-effective production methodologies that align with product specifications and quality benchmarks.
Responsibilities:
Key Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional tasks may be assigned.
Develop engineering documentation utilizing best practices in manufacturing engineering.
Prepare cost estimates for labor, tooling, and equipment to meet business unit needs.
Engage in collaborative engineering design assessments.
Review and authorize drawings, routings, specifications, and related documents.
Design and acquire necessary tools and equipment.
Draft funding requests.
Provide training to staff or conduct sessions to introduce new methodologies.
Prepare and manufacture prototypes as necessary, applying concurrent engineering principles, while monitoring part flow and communicating design modifications post-release.
Oversee and manage capital expenditure projects related to Stellar welding equipment.
Contribute to floor layout planning, racking, and cart design during implementation.
Assist in resolving production and part fitment challenges.
Conduct root cause analysis.
Continuously seek improvement in all job aspects.
Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Qualifications:
General Competencies Required:
Capital enhancement.
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD).
General computer skills.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with MRP systems is preferred (specifically Epicor).
Process optimization.
Problem-solving capabilities.
Project management experience.
Ability to enhance manufacturing processes and methods for cost reduction, quality enhancement, and efficiency.
Robotics knowledge.
Skills Required:
Proficient in computer use, particularly with Microsoft 365 Suite.
Strong statistical knowledge with general numeracy and effective interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Planning:
Ability to anticipate and plan over a 3-6 month timeframe.
Experience in manufacturing engineering or equivalent experience with related products. Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
Familiarity with computers, manufacturing practices, tools, and fixtures.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities.
Ability to collaborate with vendors, customers, and team members.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong aptitude for teamwork.
Physical Requirements:
While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or manipulate objects, tools, or controls.
Occasional lifting of items not exceeding 50 lbs.
Employee will work indoors in a manufacturing setting and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Safety glasses may be required during specific tasks or in manufacturing areas.
Additional Requirements:
Participation in company-sponsored continuing education may be necessary.
Travel is primarily local during business hours, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
