Job Summary

This part-time position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform skilled work in general maintenance, alteration, repair, and construction of equipment and structures, resolving emergency situations.
  2. Coordinate with administration and other trades to complete projects/work orders efficiently.
  3. Learn and maintain facility preventative maintenance software, coordinating with administration and maintenance staff.
  4. Build articles and structures of wood for modifying and/or adapting facilities to specific needs.
  5. Maintain outdoor facility and camp areas, including trash pickup, lawn mowing/trimming, and maintenance of mower, trimmer, and other landscape equipment.
  6. Estimate materials and/or equipment needed to complete work projects, ensuring timely completion.
  7. Inspect facilities, systems, and their components to identify and report necessary repairs.
  8. Maintain tools, equipment, systems, and/or components to ensure availability in safe operating condition.
  9. Monitor facilities to ensure the welfare of members and staff and/or minimize loss and/or liability.
  10. Prepare and paint various surfaces to protect facility property and/or maintain attractive facilities.
  11. Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  12. Coordinate duties and supervise outside volunteer groups, as applicable.
  13. Participate in the Manager on Duty team and adjust schedule accordingly to meet needs.
Requirements
  1. Prior maintenance work and experience in facility maintenance are preferred.
  2. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas is desirable.
  3. Good communication skills are essential.
  4. CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required within 30 days of employment and must be kept active.
  5. Ability and current license to drive with a record that meets YMCA standards.
  6. Familiarity with personal computers is helpful.
  7. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
