About the Role

At Raytheon Technologies, we are seeking a highly motivated individual to support the manufacturing maturation of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) turbine components. CMCs are an enabling material that increases the temperature capability of jet engine components. Through successful development and application of these materials, we will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight and more durable for commercial and military applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor functionality and performance of equipment, including vacuum pumps, high temperature furnaces, gas scrubbers, instrumentation, and chemical feed systems.
  • Apply principles of physics, mathematics, and material science to design and evaluate sub-system prototypes when equipment/system deficiencies are identified.
  • Initiate and manage all phases of projects from design to installation and verification.
  • Develop predictive maintenance programs and critical spares inventories to minimize unplanned downtime of equipment.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and engineering integrated teams to develop new processes and implement new designs into production to enhance material performance, eliminate quality turnbacks, escapes, and reduce overall product costs.
  • Provide focused and effective leadership in eliminating EH&S/Ergonomics/Human Factors risks and addressing quality issues as processes transition into production.
  • Create and implement strategies for automation to improve quality and minimize process costs.
  • Conduct root cause investigations as required and implement corrective actions.
  • Support a 24/7 operation as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 5 years of engineering experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of engineering experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or material science.
  • Experience developing new processes and successful transition to production.
  • Extensive experience in installing and operating electro-mechanical production equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships and exercise influence.
  • Ability to lead small teams to deliver outstanding results and overcome challenges.
  • Knowledge and effective practice of Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.

Role Type

This role is: Onsite. Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines. Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. The Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 14-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return-to-work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance and contributions participants will be eligible for a career at RTX.
