The Psychiatric Care Technician is responsible for providing care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges and various substance use disorders, adhering to the directives of healthcare professionals including physicians and nurses.

The Behavioral Health Support Specialist ensures the safety and emotional stability of patients, directly reporting to the medical team.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver personal care and behavioral support to assigned patients.

2. Assist patients with daily activities such as grooming, meal preparation, and hygiene.

3. Conduct regular safety checks on assigned patients as instructed.

4. Aid in patient mobility and transfers.

5. Monitor vital signs, including heart rate and blood pressure.

6. Provide behavioral support services to enhance patient well-being.

7. Implement crisis intervention strategies when necessary.

8. Foster patient independence and self-sufficiency.

9. Ensure patient safety at all times.

10. Execute behavioral intervention plans as outlined.

11. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care in accordance with policies.

12. Participate in rehabilitation and treatment initiatives.

13. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

- An Associate's degree in behavioral sciences or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience may be accepted.

- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is desirable.

- Adherence to all applicable professional standards of practice is required.

- Completion of Amergis' Competency program may be necessary.

- Current CPR certification is required if applicable.

- TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray may be required if applicable.

- A current health certificate must be provided as per contract or state regulations.

- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations is essential.

- Successful completion of new hire training relevant to the job site is required.

- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations is crucial.

- Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively interact with supervisors, colleagues, and clients; proficiency in English is required.

- Computer skills are necessary for documentation and communication.

- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
