Job Summary:
The Nursing Assistant I provides high-quality patient care and support services in a dynamic healthcare environment. This role involves performing basic nursing skills, personal care activities, and other tasks as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN/LPN.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measures vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, etc.
- Provides personal care, such as bathing, mouth care, skin care, hair care, nail care, bed making, and dressing/undressing.
- Assists with nutritional needs by preparing patients for meal time and feeding patients when needed.
- Supports patients with elimination needs through tasks such as using bedpan/urinal, bowel/bladder training, collection of specimens, and perineal/catheter care.
- Measures height and weight.
- Records intake and output accurately.
Requirements:
- Completion of state-approved Level I Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation program or its equivalent.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Current listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I registry.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to provide excellent patient and customer care to all patients and their visitors, as well as internal and external teammates.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Able to learn new software rapidly. Knowledge of Epic/EMR is helpful.
Work Environment:
This role is based in the 6th Floor of Wayne UNC Health Care, with a standard work schedule of 36 hours per week, including night shifts.
