Job Summary and Qualifications:

The Endoscopy Technician is part of the medical team that uses endoscopes to diagnose or treat gastrointestinal problems. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the GI Tech assists before, during, and after procedures by performing direct and indirect patient care that complies with hospital policies and the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with preparing the procedure rooms with working knowledge of aseptic and sterile technique
• Assist with the room cleanup and sterilization after the procedure
• Assist the team during the Endoscopy procedures, including sample collection, dilation, and polypectomy
• Maintain inventory for instruments used
• Function in the role of Patient Care Tech, Unit Clerk (HUC), or Transporter and stock supplies as needed
• Assist with the patient intake process

Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or GED required
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
• Prior experience as a nursing assistant or surgical tech preferred
