The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant is a skilled professional who delivers direct care services under the clinical guidance of the Rehabilitation Therapist.


Compensation:
$43.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer physical therapy interventions to residents in accordance with treatment plans established by the Rehabilitation Therapist.
  • Support the Rehabilitation Therapist during assessments, evaluations, and intricate treatment procedures.
  • Monitor, document, and report to the therapist on the conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned tasks.
  • Maintain daily treatment records and document progress notes on residents as directed by the therapist.
  • Assist with the initial screening of new admissions.
  • Collaborate with the therapist in discussions with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, as necessary.
  • Help maintain the physical therapy department and its equipment.
  • Assist the Rehabilitation Therapist with in-service training and other meetings as required.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities relevant to your role to ensure clinical proficiency.
  • Comply with regulatory and professional standards and guidelines set by Heritage Healthcare.
  • Participate in rehabilitation team meetings regarding resident progress, challenges, or needs.
  • Adhere to facility policies and engage in quality improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Understand reimbursement processes from various payers and allocate therapy resources effectively based on resident goals and discharge plans.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant regulations and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Support the organization's commitment to Compassionate Care; project a professional demeanor to inspire confidence in the rehabilitation program.
  • Execute duties independently while recognizing when direct supervision is necessary; willingly assist colleagues.
  • Maintain the expected productivity level as discussed and required for your position.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.
  • Preferred experience in a setting serving a similar demographic of residents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including neat handwriting and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow the directives of the Rehabilitation Therapist and the facility's policies and procedures.
Ability to safely perform the following activities, sometimes for extended periods:

Standing:
Maintaining an upright position for prolonged durations.

Pushing:

Applying force to move objects, with a push or pull force of up to 35 lbs.


Lifting:

Raising objects from lower to higher positions, or moving them laterally; required to lift up to 50 lbs independently, and may need assistance for heavier weights.


Stooping:

Bending forward and down from the waist, hips, and knees for extended periods.


Reaching:
Extending arms and hands in any direction.

Balancing:
Maintaining equilibrium to prevent falls when walking, standing, or crouching on uneven surfaces.
