Position Overview

The Cashier plays a crucial role in managing register transactions for both sales and returns of merchandise.

Key Responsibilities

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

Customer Engagement
  • Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively.
  • Welcome customers upon entry and thank them upon exit, using their names when possible.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor; collaborate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ensure swift and efficient processing of customer transactions.
  • Respond to all calls and inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Communicate any issues requiring management intervention.
  • Enhance product knowledge to assist customers with store navigation and product inquiries.
  • Support pricing, stocking, and packaging of merchandise.
Register Management
  • Adhere to all procedures for cash register transactions.
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate register drawer balance.
  • Implement any promotional programs or initiatives as directed.
  • Participate in team meetings focused on cashier operations.
Store Appearance and Maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front end and checkout areas.
  • Assist in keeping impulse items stocked and presented attractively.
  • Ensure promotional materials are readily available in shopping carts.
  • Keep forms and supplies well-stocked.
  • Contribute to front-end decoration in line with company guidelines.
  • Request cart pickups as needed.
  • Notify management of merchandise returns that require processing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior cashier or customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25lbs), and climb as needed.
Compensation

Starting pay is $15.75 per hour.
