About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of Victoria, TX. As a key member of our Building Services Department, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain offices, file rooms, meeting rooms, break rooms, and restrooms in a clean, sanitary, and aesthetic condition at all times.
  • Gather and dispose of trash and waste daily.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets, clean walls, windows, woodworks, and baseboards, and pick up trash from building grounds as scheduled and in accordance with customer needs.
  • Dust mop and wet mop floors as scheduled and in accordance with customer needs.
  • Work closely with other members in the Building Services Department to ensure timely notifications of facilities that need repair.
  • Maintain confidentiality as to all information seen or overheard during performance of duties, especially with respect to the Police and Legal Departments.
  • As requested, move furniture and heavy objects and arrange furniture for meetings.
  • As required, pick up departmental supplies from vendors and restock cleaning materials.
  • Perform duties in a safe and orderly manner, complying with all City and department safety rules.
  • Regular attendance at work and arrive on time.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned or as become apparent.
Requirements
  • One (1) year of related work experience is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Cleaning techniques.
  • Skill in organizing work and setting priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Interacting tactfully and professionally with City staff, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Operating various cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Reading and accurately interpreting manuals and instructions.
  • Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
