Job Summary:The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will work in a primary care setting, providing comprehensive care to children and adolescents. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric healthcare, with experience in assessing and managing common illnesses and accidents.
Key Responsibilities:- Secure and assess health and developmental history
- Perform comprehensive pediatric/adolescent appraisal, including physical nutritional assessment and developmental evaluations
- Plan and implement routine immunizations
- Assess and manage common illnesses and accidents of adolescents
- Prescribe and regulate medications
- Order and interpret lab studies
- Provide guidance and education on common problems of children/adolescents and preventive measures for maintenance and improvement of health
- Provide on-site school-based coordination of services
- Identify and utilize community resources
- Work collaboratively with physician preceptor in planning for patient care and make referrals as indicated
- Masters' Degree in Nursing
- Nurse Practitioner certification
- Current New York State License
- Board Certification
- Primary care clinic experience
- Experience working with persons with HIV/AIDS, histories of substance use and/or mental illness
- Bilingual Spanish/English
