Position Overview

Junior System Administrator

We are seeking a motivated Junior System Administrator to contribute to a dynamic agile team utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the daily administration and operational support of a sophisticated network environment comprising distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain infrastructure systems, applications, and processes, ensuring timely identification and resolution of issues.
  • Respond to hardware and software incidents affecting local users, collaborating with senior system administrators as needed.
  • Manage IT Help Desk inquiries, ensuring professional and prompt responses.
  • Utilize enterprise monitoring tools to track system alarms and alerts.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software challenges, including network connectivity issues.
  • Provide technical support to collaborative workgroups on overlapping projects, fostering positive inter-departmental relationships.
  • Communicate effectively with users regarding system outages and updates.
  • Proactively inform customers of any delays in infrastructure processes that may affect their operations.
  • Execute information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVAs) management and system security scanning as per established System Security Plans.
  • Initiate IAVA responses, conduct security scans, and implement necessary patches and updates across various IT and network systems.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation to facilitate incident resolution.
  • Support the implementation of IT enhancements and participate in project initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience in providing user assistance in an IT or customer service role.
  • Experience in documenting technical processes and providing information.
  • Familiarity with Data Center design and configuration.
  • Experience with complex IT systems, including network switches, routers, and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of IT system optimization and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to respond quickly and clearly to customer inquiries.
  • Commitment to best practices, including adherence to maintenance windows and change control procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to respond to emergency system administration issues on an as-needed basis.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for local program support.

Preferred:

  • BS degree in a technical field with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with security standards and network security technologies.
  • Experience in software configuration management and development environments.
  • Experience in Agile Development Environments.
