Job Title: Director of Construction

At Visionary Communications LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Construction to lead our OSP construction activity within a region. This is a critical role that requires strategic leadership, driving efficiencies, and conducting oversight to ensure the successful deployment of our fiber network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to Construction Managers to build a high-performing construction and deployment team.
  • Develop and implement organizational metrics to drive results and improve efficiency.
  • Manage and direct Construction Managers to create and execute project work plans, schedules, and control budgets.
  • Negotiate and onboard Construction Contractor resources as needed.
  • Oversee the completion of network construction to meet quality and engineering standards.
  • Communicate requirements and specifications to the Construction Manager and Construction staff.
  • Review and approve market agreements, permit and authorization compliance, contractor invoices, and other relevant documents.
  • Maintain day-to-day communication with other Fiber departments.
  • Produce quality results in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Represent Visionary Communications LLC professionally to satisfy customer needs and foster good customer relations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project teams, other internal departments, and the general public.
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role and those of the project team.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of fiber construction management or FTTH deployment experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Telecom construction and engineering, project budget creation and management, project scheduling and tracking, project finance, cost reporting, and field office operations.
  • Knowledge of fiber management and splicing standards.
  • Good understanding of telecom network topology and customer connectivity.
  • Able to effectively oversee multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-focused leadership using energetic and positive communication skills.
  • Natural ability to work with all levels of management, staff, and vendors.
  • Road and air travel required (25% or less), valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires sitting to complete work with a computer using a variety of software & GIS applications and telephone.

30%+ / - of the time will be spent walking and standing in the field with various weather conditions, as well as occasional lifting and/or carrying pushing/pulling of items less than 25 lbs.

Visual and audio acuity is essential to this position.
