Commodity Risk Management Director

Ruiz Foods, a leading Hispanic-owned company, is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its commodity risk management efforts. As the Associate Director - Commodity Risk Management (CRM) and Category Leader - Commodities, this individual will oversee all aspects of spend related to key commodities, including beef, soybean oil, flour, pork, chicken, cheese, eggs, and energy.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial risk management techniques, including forward fixed contracts, futures, options, and swaps. They will analyze supply markets, develop risk management strategies, and build consensus on execution plans with Finance and Commercial stakeholders. This role requires strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to travel domestically up to 20%.

Risk Management:

The Commodity Risk Management Director will analyze supply markets, assess physical and financial risk to the company, and forecast prices of commodities using fundamental and technical analysis. They will collaborate with Finance and Commercial stakeholders to set Annual Business Plans for commodities and prepare detailed reports to senior leadership on commodity markets and their risks.

Supply Management:

The Associate Director will maintain robust plans to protect the company from physical supply risk, conduct sourcing events, and contract with suppliers. They will work closely with Quality to address supplier quality concerns and manage one team member responsible for all operational aspects of commodity procurement.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 10 years experience in a consumer goods company, ideally food or beverage.
  2. Minimum of 10 years experience in risk management or commodity trading roles.
  3. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, or other business-related field.
