POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tax Compliance Analyst is tasked with delivering internal assistance on indirect taxes, including sales and use tax, property tax, and severance/mining tax. This role involves pursuing tax credits and refunds while supporting audit defense efforts. Additionally, the analyst will manage tax payment requests and supply necessary documentation to third-party compliance providers for sales and use tax as well as property tax.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide expertise in sales and use tax and mining/severance tax (indirect/transaction taxes).

• Oversee the tax certificate process, including thorough research and validation.

• Assist with issues related to Vertex/SAP systems.

• Conduct research on sales and severance tax matters.

Support property tax initiatives.

• Engage in cost segregation reviews.

• Analyze renditions and assess tax exemptions.

• Participate in appeals and provide necessary backup.

Collaborate with third-party compliance providers.

• Deliver supporting documentation for outsourced tax compliance services, including sales and use tax, property tax, and income tax.

• Address tax notices promptly.

• Process tax payments efficiently.

Additional duties as assigned.

• Assist with special projects and conduct research.

• Analyze projects, provide reviews, and make recommendations.

• Execute all other assigned responsibilities.

REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES:
  • Proven technical expertise in sales and use tax.
  • Experience in audit defense, research, and tax incentives is preferred.
  • Self-motivated individual with a keen eye for detail and exceptional organizational skills, capable of meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks independently.
  • Familiarity with tax research tools is advantageous.
  • Highly reliable, with a strong focus on customer service and attendance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, including database skills.
  • Experience with Vertex and SAP is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks physically.
  • Capability to access various locations as needed.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and tolerate exposure to industrial environments.
  • Ability to navigate heights, confined spaces, and perform physical activities such as lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree is mandatory.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance is desirable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 1-2 years of tax-related experience or equivalent education.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 2 or more years of tax experience, ideally within public, manufacturing, or chemical sectors.
