Job Title: Project Archaeologist

Join Terracon, a 100% employee-owned multidiscipline consulting firm, as a Project Archaeologist in our Houston, TX office. As a key member of our Archeology Group, you will work under the direction of the Archeology Group Manager to lead and support our cultural resources team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Conduct fieldwork, write reports, and manage field crews to meet quality standards.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) on survey, testing, and small data recovery projects.
  • Prepare proposals, methodologies, and research designs for various types and phases of archeological projects.
  • Oversee work performed by field and laboratory technicians.
Requirements:
  • Graduate degree (MA, MSc, PhD) in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the practice.
  • Working knowledge of the Antiquities Code of Texas, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and other pertinent State and Federal legislation.
  • Ability to direct staff technicians, mentor, and supervise junior staff.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using both written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task within flexible/fluid schedules and project needs.
