Safety and Security Specialist

The Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for ensuring a secure and protected environment for both visitors and staff by adhering to health regulations and actively monitoring for potential safety risks and unusual activities through regular patrols of designated areas. This role involves investigating complaints or suspected criminal behavior, assisting in managing threats when necessary, and providing protective services.

(Availability on weekends is required)

  • Manage access for guests, tenants, and vendors
  • Uphold Client and Company policies and procedures
  • Monitor and report fire and safety risks
  • Conduct regular foot patrols in and around the facility
  • Communicate all relevant issues and incidents to the general manager and other Security Managers as needed
  • Engage with a diverse range of individuals including clients, visitors, public safety officials, employees, and the general public
  • Operate all surveillance equipment including CCTV
  • Ensure accurate date and time stamps on recordings and that camera views remain unobstructed
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding surveillance operations, controls, and procedures
  • Promptly inform the Director of Security/SOC of any mechanical issues with the security or surveillance systems that are expected to last over four hours
  • Ensure video surveillance footage is stored for the legally required duration
  • Perform all other assigned duties
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in any field is preferred
  • A minimum of three years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field is preferred
  • Strong computer, mathematical, language, and reasoning skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
  • Exceptional multi-tasking abilities both over the phone and in person
  • Occasional local travel may be required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regularly perform desk-based computer tasks
  • Frequently stand and walk
  • Occasionally reach or work above shoulder height, perform light or forceful grasping, use a telephone, sort or file paperwork, and lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, or crawl
