Position Overview:
The Senior Manager of Accounting Policy plays a pivotal role in overseeing our technical accounting operations. This position is tasked with managing accounting research, establishing policies, and evaluating strategic structuring options.
Key Responsibilities:
This role encompasses significant responsibilities, including:
- Providing robust leadership to the Accounting department and the broader Finance organization.
- Leading assessments of strategic transaction structuring and innovations in products and business processes.
- Serving as the primary contact for external technical accounting specialists regarding structured financing and complex accounting evaluations.
- Monitoring developments in International Accounting Standards, Group Accounting Policies, and US GAAP.
- Interpreting guidance and documenting the Company's positions on accounting matters.
- Coordinating policy decisions with Group-level accounting leadership as necessary.
- Communicating relevant developments to appropriate departments within the Company.
Implementation and Compliance:
- Facilitating the implementation of new accounting standards and changes to ensure compliance readiness.
- Collaborating with external auditors to clarify Company positions.
- Leading technical accounting training initiatives and continuing professional education (CPE) efforts.
- Supporting the SEC filing process through technical research and disclosure assistance.
- Engaging in outreach on critical technical accounting developments.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Over 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or auditing, particularly in technical accounting research or financial reporting within a large public company.
- A blend of industry experience in public companies and Big 4 audit firms is preferred.
- Background in the Wireless Telecom sector or financial services is highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements; prior experience with IFRS is a plus.
- Strong critical thinking skills for identifying and resolving accounting issues.
